It’s been a few months in the coming, but we wanted to take on board feedback from users in regards to the first version, as well as to implement things that we thought were important.
In the first version we had worked hard on the music tour section, securing images & music, sorting the range of licensing issues, and experimenting with duration of audio for locations. We also wanted to add a couple more locations to fatten out the experience and to represent a couple of other genres of music.
User feedback had included the need for social networking integration, as well as inclusion of music from the city.
We also felt that since the iPhone offers a rich media experience we should look at music videos and not just audio. We were aware that this might rule out a few smaller groups and artists, but on the whole we could represent a lot of the bands that were really breaking through or had established themselves, across a wide range of genres, from singer/songwriters to punk, from folk to rock, from electronica to dubstep.
Other new additions include the ability to search for ‘genre’ in the gig listings section, a news feed from the Belfast Music website provided by Eddie Mullan, & a full view of AU Mag’s news feed [rather than just headers].
We look forward to a summer of people experiencing the tour and checking out what’s hot in Belfast’s cooking music scene.
