Have you seen this, Adam? #3 Culture Night Belfast 2012 Video Review

In this, the third instalment of ‘Have You Seen This, Adam?’, Sensum guinea pig Adam casts an eye over the video review of Culture Night Belfast 2012 and tests his emotional response to it through the use of Sensum.

Hello, and welcome once again to ‘Have You Seen This, Adam?’ I’m Adam and as the Guinea Pig of the Sensum office, I’ll be recording and sharing my emotional responses to the videos you think will get my emotions running using the cutting-edge Sensum product.

These weeks seem to be flying in as we find ourselves now on Week 3 of this experiment, and today I watched the Culture Night Belfast 2012 review video from the boys at Redcap Productions..

When the music and visuals began I started to wonder who the soundtrack was by with its infectious African beat, which was followed by time-lapse footage of a lot of hustling and bustling. Unfortunately this was followed by what looked like Aphex Twin (aka Richard James) in a tracksuit, blowing me a kiss. Yuck!

There’s quite an interesting spike, when this scary lady below appears. I don’t remember feeling scared or shocked, but it’s interesting to see that Sensum has picked up on this.

There are small spikes in the visualisation of my emotional response when drums appear on screen. I am a bassist, but maybe I should jump ship and learn the drums?!?!

Throughout the video there is a constant change in visuals and scenes, and as we can see from the overall view below, the graph continues to rise throughout. Therefore, my engagement was pretty high. Maybe it says something about my brain or attention span, that I need constant changes in visuals to build up to a large level of engagement to any given media.

Hmmmm this will have to be investigated!
